Aardman Plans for Wallace & Gromit 30

Aardman has announced plans to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Wallace & Gromit: The Wrong Trousers

Released in 1993, The Wrong Trousers was the first film starring the duo to win an Academy Award and introduce fan favorite Feathers McGraw.

The thirtieth anniversary celebrations coincide with Brand new Wallace & Gromit movie production The first since 2008 is the issue of bread and death. This brand new, as yet untitled adventure will be shown exclusively on Netflix worldwide except in the UK, where it will debut on the BBC before also coming to Netflix. It is scheduled to be launched in 2024.

An interactive, narrative-driven, single-player VR experience is also currently in production for the Meta Quest all-in-one VR headset. “The Grand Getaway” will enable users to wander, explore, and get hands-on in the world of Wallace & Gromit.

Other highlights of the 30th anniversary limited edition The Wrong Trousers x Olympia Le Tan include a clutch designed by Wallace wearing “techno pants” alongside Gromit and Feathers McGraw. a partnership between Aardman and the Cartoon Museum in London, showcasing Wallace & Gromit’s artwork over the years; New Wallace & Gromit-themed escape room adventure launch “A Grand Way Out” at Locked In A Room, Bristol and 30 performances of The Wrong Trousers with live orchestral accompaniment, organized by Carrot Productions, taking place across the UK to mark 30 years since the movie was released

Nick Park commented: “It’s very exciting to have some brand new Wallace & Gromit stories in the works as we celebrate the anniversary of such an important moment in the characters’ history. The Wrong Trousers was a special film for all of us at Aardman. It’s great to keep it going.” Finding new fans today, and that we can bring these fans more adventures – more inventions, more mishaps, more problems for Gromit to solve.”

Other anniversary plans include:

  • Lots of exciting new Wallace & Gromit products and a variety of licensees including Charm licensee jewelry company, Paper Engine engineers, eco-friendly independent tea blending company Bird & Blend Tea Co. , who are releasing a themed tin containing 20 tea bags that have been specially blended with Wallace & Gromit – it will be an invigorating daily drink perfect for inventors and those who need a lift! In addition to partnering with Carrs Pasties to launch a new Wallace & Gromit-inspired “More Cheese, Ham & Jam Pasty,” it contains a blend of four cheeses (Wensleydale, Red Leicester, Mature Cheddar, and Mozzarella), pulled pork, and caramelized onions.

  • Celebrating Wallace & Gromit’s Wrong Pants Day Friday, June 30, 2023, the annual fundraising event from Aardman’s charitable partner, The Grand Appeal, which encourages people to dress up in their most outlandish outfits and donate towards The Right to Appear Wrong. The Grand Appeal is a charity dedicated to Bristol Children’s Hospital.

  • There will be an annual Intellectual Property Office (IPO) and Aardman ‘Wallace & Gromit’s Cracking Ideas’ competition, the theme of which this year will be ‘Correcting the Wrong Pants’. Budding inventors will be tasked with the challenge of reinventing Wallace’s “techno pants” and turning them into something that can be beneficial to our planet. The competition will be supported by educational resources, home study packages, and a series of events in partnership with regional science centers and museums.

  • An expanded Wallace & Gromit retail presence – particularly in HMV stores across the UK.

  • Performances across the UK of The Wrong Trousers with the soundtrack performed by WFEL Fairey, one of the world’s finest brass bands.

  • Model making workshops are held at family festivals across the UK, where fans can learn how to make their own Gromit and Feathers McGraw models out of clay.
