Alcaraz away from the title, first place

7 pm

Carlos Alcaraz falls far short of the US Open title and number one.

Alcaraz won the tiebreaker for the first time in the tournament, winning 7-1 to win the third set against Casper Rudd.

The No. 3 seed from Spain was 0-4 in the tiebreak on his way to his first Grand Slam final.

The Cars won the first set 6-4, while Roode took the fifth seed 6-2.

The winner will climb to No. 1 in the ATP rankings on Monday.


5:50 pm

Casper Rudd tied the US Open final by one set by winning the second set 6-2.

Carlos Alcaraz won the first set 6-4 but fifth seed Ruud broke twice in the second set.

19-year-old Alcaraz has been extended to five sets in each of the previous three rounds.


5:40 pm

The 2022 US Open raised $2 million to ease the Ukraine crisis.

The US Tennis Association said the fundraising began with ” Playing tennis for peace “The exhibition in the week prior to the tournament featured players such as women’s champion Ega Sweetek and Rafael Nadal, and continued with donations from business partners, fans and private donors.

The money was donated to GlobalGiving’s Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund, which supports humanitarian assistance in affected communities in Ukraine and surrounding areas where Ukrainian refugees have fled.

Carlos Alcaraz won the first set 6-4, with Casper Ruud getting a good hand from his opponent and the crowd in the US Open final.

After trailing 4-3, Rudd told the referee chair that Alcaraz’s shot at the opening point of the eighth inning rebounded on his side of the field before the Norwegian hit it again on the Spaniard’s side. Alcaraz looked confused and pointed at Nico Heilworth, looking for an explanation.

Then Rod approached the chair and confirmed that the ball bounced twice. Alcaraz gave him his thumbs up and clapped his hand on his racket to join the crowd in applause.


4:20 pm

After a long way to get there, Carlos Alcaraz started the US Open men’s singles final against Casper Rudd.

The No. 3 seed from Spain won five-set matches in the last three rounds, ending with a semi-final victory over American Frances Tiafoe. The 19-year-old played until 2:50 a.m., his last-ever US Open feat, defeating Yannick Sener in the previous round.

Rudd, seeded 5, opened his serve on the blue court in 9/11/01 style with white on the green sideline. The roof over Arthur Ashe Stadium was closed on a rainy Sunday in New York on the 21st anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

Barbora Krejsikova and Katrina Siniakova won their first US Open title and third Grand Slam of the year, completing their Grand Slam career by defeating Americans Katie McNally and Taylor Townsend 3-6, 7-5, 6-1.

The Czech national team ended an unbeaten season in the majors, winning the Australian Open and Wimbledon but did not play in the French Open after Krezhikova tested positive for COVID-19. They won it all at Roland Garros in 2021.

The third-seeded team at Flushing Meadows won its sixth Grand Slam title overall.

McNally and Townsend, who are playing their first major tournament together after Townsend returned to action after his birth last year, advanced 4-1 in the second set.

This was the second loss in the US Open final to McNally, who partnered with Coco Gauff last year.


2:30 pm

The Grand Slam champion will be crowned for the first time at the US Open for the third consecutive year when Carlos Alcaraz meets Casper Ruud.

The winner will also move to No. 1 in the ATP rankings on Monday.

19-year-old Alcaraz could become the youngest man to win a major since Spaniard Rafael Nadal did so at the same age at the 2005 French Open. Ruud became the first No. 1 player from Norway.

Dominic Thiem won his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in 2020, and Daniil Medvedev did the same in 2021.
