Is it any surprise that Okafor has also been remarkably successful in providing crucial advice to the freshman class of Big East 2022-23 two weeks before the weekend in New York City?

It was “nothing short of phenomenal,” Stu Jackson, associate executive commissioner of Big East noted.

For the past eight years, the league has gathered its freshmen for a weekend in the Big Apple, a kind of mentoring of what it means to be a basketball player in the Big East. When Jackson called Okafor, who lives in New York City, to be a former Players Committee member, it wasn’t all that hard.

“There was no selling,” Jackson noted. Without hesitation, he said he was inside.
