First look at Paul Brown Stadium renovation offers

Based on feedback, goals and visits to several other NFL stadiums, Hamilton County and Gensler Sports have crafted a plan filled with ideas on how to solve problems inside Paul Brown Stadium and enhance the fan experience. This is a layout of where certain upgrades will go.Gensler Sports

Aiming to create new experiences for fans, renovations could include new cascading terraces, a live sports betting club, rooftop experiences and a nightclub in the upper east lobby. No more detailed visualizations of many of these ideas have been provided yet.Gensler Sports

The Paul Brown Stadium proposal would seek to move the scoreboard and expand it in size from 130 feet by 36 feet to 150 feet by 42 feet. Behind the scoreboard, a new pavilion area has been proposed for fans.Gensler Sports

The multi-level suite will offer landscape seating options and access to different levels of club seating. It will also sit atop the Bengals pro shop, with access from the stand to the shop below.Gensler Sports

The new North Wing is located above the team store, and showcases access options from the club level to the Wings. The pavilion will be behind the scoreboard, with bridges connecting multiple sections to the multi-level pavilion.Gensler Sports

Plans suggest creating cascading balconies in the southeast corner. These balconies will cater to ticket holders of different levels, from suites to club level. A similar design is in effect at Camden Yards in Baltimore.Gensler Sports

Traditional upgrades have been proposed, including various seating options to offer different ways to watch the game, experience a new Findlay Market-themed food court, and upgrade other amenities throughout the stadium.Gensler Sports

The current proposal calls for zoning into “circles” that all reflect something substantial in Cincinnati. The proposed areas are “Urban Jungle”, “Bourban Trail”, “Incline Railways”, “Culture & Arts”, “German Heritage” and “Findlay Market”. In this proposal, only the concept of the “Findlay Market” area was presented in greater depth.Gensler Sports

The proposed Findlay Market area will re-envision the concession areas, in the style of a historic Cincinnati open-air market. The area will be a market food court experience on the eastern fringe.Gensler Sports

The East Side Market concept will respect Findlay Market, while working to expand franchises.Gensler Sports

The current plan for the Findlay Market area will expand franchises and provide nearly double the current point of sale, to speed up service and ease congestion.Gensler Sports

The plan currently proposes diversifying the seating options, so that fans have different ways to participate in and watch the game besides public, club and pavilion seating. The proposal includes space for stand up decks, drink bars, and check-in boxes, as well as expanding suite options.Gensler Sports

During visits to other stadiums, officials gathered ideas about the different types of seating options that could be brought into Paul Brown Stadium, including log seats. Shown here are the seating options available at the other stadiums considered for this plan.Gensler Sports

Possible seating options for seating can include designs ranging from traditional club chairs to banquette to pub-style seating and more. Based on the current proposal, it is not clear which of these designs is preferred for Paul Brown Stadium or if all of them are still being considered.Gensler Sports

The main goal of renovations is to reduce congestion and increase function and flow. The improvement plan includes moving the main scoreboard, moving and adding escalators and improving the overall vertical transport. Ideas also include increasing sponsorship opportunities.Gensler Sports

In an effort to improve functionality and traffic flow within the stadium, the current plan proposes replacing two of the existing ramps with escalators and adding additional escalators throughout.Gensler Sports

One of the main areas of traffic congestion has been identified as Gate D, with 45% of fans entering the stadium. Right now, people are flocking to the stadium and congestion is happening on the main ramp, with minimal traffic going to the other gates. To speed up some aspects of this experiment, the current plan proposes implementing strategic landscapes and signage, while introducing new security systems that work faster than metal detectors as people move across the line.Gensler Sports

Reimagining Gate D involves moving stairs and escalators and creating intentional landscaping that helps direct the flow of traffic and distributes fans along all gates rather than congregating at one specific gate. A permanent shadow structure above the gates is also suggested as long wait times may be inevitable for some games.Gensler Sports

To enhance vertical transportation, more escalators can be added around the gates, particularly in the southwest corners, to help fans reach their seating level more efficiently.Gensler Sports
