At the Cincinnati Bengals home game Sunday afternoon, the University of Cincinnati Medical Center health care providers, who were part of the on-field response in support of Damar Hamlin last Monday night, were recognized at an on-field ceremony before singing of the national anthem. “On behalf of our multidisciplinary medical care teams, we are deeply honored to be recognized and, most importantly, delighted that Damar is making continued progress in his recovery,” said Rob Weihe, executive vice president and chief operating officer for UC Health and chief administrative officer for the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. . The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is an important part of the NFL’s Emergency Action Plan at NFL home games in Cincinnati, and the 30-person field medical team is represented at all games. The University of Cincinnati Medical Center is the only hospital in Cincinnati that can provide this unique care in the field because it is the only Level I accredited adult trauma center in the greater Cincinnati area. Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin continues to make what doctors called “significant” progress after going into cardiac arrest during Monday’s primetime game at Paycor Stadium. A quick response saved Hamlin’s life, as the hospital provided the names and photos of the staff who rescued Hamlin and kept him alive in the field.
