Lisa Marie Presley made one last public outing at the 80th Golden Globe Awards, paying tribute to Austin Butler for ‘Elvis’

Lisa Marie Presley Elvis Presley’s only child was last seen at the Golden Globe Awards on Tuesday, just days before her death. She died on January 12 at the age of 54.

During NBC’s 80th Golden Globe Awards Tuesday night at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, Presley was seated at a table and watched as he applauded actor Austin Butler, who won Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for his performance as her father in the 2022 musical drama “Elvis.”

Butler used his acceptance speech to thank Lisa Marie Presley and her mother, Priscilla, who were babysitters with his sister, Ashley.

“Thank you for opening your hearts, your memories, and your home to me. Lisa Marie, Priscilla, I love you forever,” he said.

A tearful Lisa Marie covered her face, patted her heart, and clapped.

Butler also praised “Elvis” director Baz Luhrmann—whom he calls a “bold and visionary filmmaker”—for giving him the chance and letting him “take a risk.”

Presley, who was sitting with Luhrmann, was seen applauding the remarks.

He also thanked his “dance partner”. Tom Hankswho was also in the film portraying Elvis’ manager, Colonel Tom Parker.

During his acceptance speech, Butler praised his fellow candidates and said he was even honored to be considered.

The 31-year-old won the award over Hugh Jackman for his performance in ‘The Son’, Brendan Fraser for ‘The Whale’, Bill Nighy for ‘Living’ and Jeremy Pope for ‘The Inspection’.

“I am so grateful right now,” he opened his notes, “that I am in this room full of my heroes.”

The actor named specifically Brad Pitt, Quentin Tarantino and Denzel Washington.

Elvis was also nominated for Best Motion Picture Drama, which was won by Steven Spielberg’s The Fabelmans. Other nominees include “Avatar: The Way of the Water” and “Top Gun: Maverick.”

The Golden Globes released a statement saying the organization was “extremely saddened to hear” of Presley’s death.

“We are very saddened to hear of the passing of Lisa Marie Presley. She was an incredibly talented singer-songwriter and a very welcome presence at the Golden Globes this past Tuesday. May she rest in peace,” the statement read.

Tuesday’s gala was the show’s first telecast after it was canceled last year amid controversy over diversity.

Lisa Marie Presley died Thursday after being hospitalized with a possible cardiac arrest. She was 54 years old.
