There are plenty of reasons for choosing the course to host a PGA Tour event beyond its architectural advantages. Of course, the design must adequately test the world’s best players, but the regional market, logistics and history all play important roles in holding a Tour event as well.
However, it is no secret that the Tour has traveled to many of the best courses in our country. Of the 38 events played in the United States during the 2022-’23 PGA Tour season, 17 are currently ranked in at least one of Golf Digest’s national rankings –America’s 100 GreatestAnd The greatest 100 seconds And 100 Greatest Audiences.
In this compilation, we’ve ranked the 38 US courses across 19 different states that will host a PGA Tour event this season, based on scores from 1,900 Course Ranking Committee members. You’ll likely find some surprises in our top five tournaments – three of which will host a major tournament this year. (This list only includes events played in the United States—there are nine international events scheduled this season.)
You might be surprised how the architectural advantages of the layout don’t always match the prestige of the tour event being played there. Our committee members Courses are evaluated on seven scoring criteria, ranging from shot options and layout versatility to conditioning and aesthetics.
